Summary: bed bugs suck.
Late last night I started feeling an itchiness to my back and arms, but I didn’t think much of it. When I noticed that the itchiness was staying in consistent places, I figured I should check it out. I got out of bed at like 3am to check my back in the bathroom mirror, and that’s when I noticed the swollen bumps. And then the extreme itchiness began.
I remember walking into the hostel common room in a sleepy haze and asking a guy if they looked like bed bugs. Half amused, half weirded out, he inspected my back and gave the proclamation that it was indeed bed bugs.
I knew that bed bugs were a pain in the butt, but I had no idea that it was going to be this painful. I have about 20 scattered across my arms and back, and they each are swollen and hot to the touch. I read online that 70% of people won’t even react to bed bug bites. I’m rocking that 30% and feel so #blessed. It doesn’t help that I’m particularly allergic to insect bites in general.
Here’s a SUPER attractive picture of my back:
Sure does put a new meaning to being in Buda-PEST. Eh? Eh?? Get it? I made a joke.
The next morning I bathed in hydrocortisone cream and moved rooms. I probably should’ve changed hostels, but the other guests said they didn’t have any bites. I’m only staying for one more night. Fingers crossed I don’t die.
Also. Just don’t ever stay at CoolTour Hostel. It’s the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed at. It has bed bugs, smells like pee, has broken A/C, and hot water doesn’t work in 1 of the 3 showers.
Ohhh dear goodness… those bugs tho!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
It was the worst. Several other people got bit too. One girl has a video of a bed bug crawling across her bed. So gross.
I’ll keep that mind if I ever go to Budapest – CoolTour Hostel…..
Avoid at all costs.
