It’s another day of flat waves here on the Gold Coast. So instead, I figured I probably should go to the grocery store and pick up a few things to cook.
Going to the grocery store is aways an interesting experience while traveling abroad. But my goodness, it’s so much easier shopping in an English-speaking country. I don’t have to rely on pictures to tell me what’s inside the product!
I went to good ole ALDI to pick up some things. I’ve been to ALDI or Lidl countless times since being on this trip. They’re old faithfuls.
I walked into the grocery store not knowing what I wanted to get. The hostel kitchen is a wreck; the oven barely works, and the stovetop is unreliable. On top of that, there isn’t a ton of room in the hostel fridges to store my food.
So what to get?
Eventually I decided on simple pre-made ravioli and sauce, some rice, hummus, instant noodles, etc. Simple but filling things.
I also got peanut butter. I can’t even express to you how much I’ve missed peanut butter. And apparently American peanut butter is a thing?
Also. Why are avocados so expensive here?? $2.49 EACH.
This hostel has a very chill atmosphere. Either we surf, we lay on the beach, or we hang out at the 2nd-story patio. So when I came back from the grocery store, I went to the beach and then hung out on the patio with the hostel.
It’s a hard life, I know.
American Peanut Butter, LOL.
