Gorgeous Train Ride Through Eastern Europe

October 18, 2017

Guys. I found a train to take back into Croatia, and I am so excited about it!

For those who have been following along – you know I love two things: trains and boats.

But what I love even more? That people said that this train ride was going to be the prettiest train ride in the region. So I mean, I was really looking forward to it.

I woke up at 5:50am to begin getting ready for my long travel day back into Croatia. But when I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth, I then realized that the water was still turned off.

Fun fact – the water in Sarajevo turns off from 12am to about 6 or 6:30am every day due to water shortages.

So that definitely made getting ready in the morning easy. Brushed my teeth with a bottle of Jack water, annnnnd now I’m ready to go.

When I was at the train station buying my ticket at 6:45am, there was an English family panicked because the station didn’t accept card. They only had enough cash to pay for two members, so the dad was going to take a bus later in the day. I reached into my wallet and paid for their third ticket. I’m all about those good travel vibes.  The dad later found me on the train to give me all of the USD they had – $10. So my first meal in the US will be paid for!

The train ride definitely didn’t disappoint. Ok, it actually did disappoint at first because it was super foggy, but the sun eventually burned it off.

After the train ride, I arrived into a small Bosnian town where I sat down for some much needed espresso. I had about two hours to kill before my connecting bus.

The bus ride was about 1/3 full, so I loved being able to stretch out and listen to some music. Music makes all bus rides better.

When I made it to my hostel at about 4:30pm, I went immediately into a glorious nap. Travel days are just exhausting.
