Around late morning I left my hostel to meet up with friends near Berlin’s city center. We picked out a few key sights to see and then were on our way. We wanted to see the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, and Tiergarten. Though I enjoy seeing an impressive monument as much as the next person, I really love opportunities to walk through parks. And Tiergarten is one of the best I’ve seen. 1) It’s massive. Absolutely huge 2) With beautiful, tall trees everywhere in the park, you can find lots of shade to escape the heat 3) there’s plenty of room in the park to find a bit of time to yourself.
I’ve been slowly trying to eat more German food while I’m here. Unfortunately, I’m not a fan of sausage. So that doesn’t help things. However, I had to try the currywurst. And honestly, it wasn’t half bad! I’m not sure if I would eat it again. Maybe if I was starving. Everything tastes better when you’re starving.
Two of my favorite things I stumbled upon today:
A small production team was filming for something called “History of Berlin.” The costumes and the symmetry gave such a Wes Anderson/Moonrise Kingdom feel.
The best graffiti I’ve seen in Berlin, hands down.
So true, when your hungry, everything taste good….
