Today was round 2 of “What Does This Contemporary Art Piece Mean??”
After doing a bit of research, I discovered that Sydney has a museum with a photography gallery. After visiting the photojournalism exhibit last week, I was really excited about viewing a full gallery.
I mean, look at their description from their website:
Looks legit, right?
Wrong.
Before moving forward in the story, I must note that I was exhausted from the day before. So actually getting out of the apartment was a big deal. I took a train and walked 15 minutes to get here. I put a decent amount of effort into this. And what was I rewarded with?
26 photos.
I kid you not, there were only 26 photos out on display.
Like what? I felt so deceived! Mislead. Lied to.
So I thought, “Well, while I’m here I might as well check out the rest of the exhibit.”
Siiiiiiiigh. That was a mistake. I was way too tired to try and interpret it. I mean, honestly – just look.
What does this even mean??
This artist forgot to actually paint on his canvas:
I did, however, actually like this piece:
And I especially liked this statue down in the older art galleries:
Overall, I felt incredibly disappointed. Sometimes it’s nice getting out of the apartment and getting some fresh air. But sometimes it’s better to just stay on the couch. I wish I stayed on the couch.
However, with all of that being said – I did stumble into an old hospital courtyard, and I found this far more beautiful than anything I saw in the museum.
Yeahhh Meagan…I agree…this is definitely not art…they need to find a different curator because this person doesn’t seem to know what good art is. lol
